Theology / Ministry / Religion

Preparing for a theology/ministry career often requires a strong foundation. Students are expected to become proficient in bible studies, the history of theology, contemporary theology, and other spiritual and social coursework. Those with a theology/ministry education can pursue careers ranging from pastor or evangelist to missionary work. Those who study to obtain religious degrees often learn about many other religions throughout the world in order to gain a general understanding of all other religions. There is much history involved with this, starting with ancient forms that will take you all the way up to modern religious beliefs. There is also research conducted on the effects of religion on society. There are bachelor's degrees, as well as advanced degrees offered in religious studies. The types of careers associated with these degrees vary greatly, as individuals can choose to complete a range of tasks in law, teaching, medicine, with religious congregations, and more. For this reason, it's difficult to generalize salary or job availability. Oftentimes, however, a religious studies degree is completed for humanitarian purposes, rather than monetary gain.
